Awards

Orientation Days
At the beginning of the season we conduct an orientation night. No times or distances are recorded in the centre system.

Tiny Tots
Tiny Tots do not receive any points. Remember that Tiny Tots participate in play training and gross

motor skill development activities only. All Tiny Tots are eligible for a trophy by participating in a weekly manner.

Measured And Timed Events
The aim of our Centre’s point score is to encourage all athletes to improve their own personal best efforts. We will award three separate awards the most important being the ‘PB Award’. We will award athletes

for consistent effort by awarding points for each event they participate in.

Personal Best Awards
The aim of our centre’s Personal Best Award is to recognize all athletes and their own improvements in all events over the year. At the end of each season, we look at the number of ‘PBs (Personal Bests) attained by athletes and recognise the achievement of those who have attained a higher number of PBs. The number of PBs required for this award is determined at the end of each season based on the number of PBs within each age group. The athlete with the most number of PBs through the centre will be presented with a trophy in recognition of their efforts.

New Centre Records

Cranebrook LAC have implemented a new system of recognising new centre records.

Previously athletes were only able to set new records on Championship nights. In the past

many records have been broken on a regular competition night and have not been officially recognised. The new system is a great deal fairer and could potentially give an athlete 6 or 7 attempts at a record. This season there will be no Championship nights. The process for attempting to break a centre record and having it officially recognised is as follows:

Athletes may attempt to break a record on any competition night. However, athletes or parents on

their behalf must nominate in writing the event/s of the record attempt a minimum of 1 week prior to the date the of the event. This can be done in the 'Record Attempt' folder located at the information desk near canteen or a form may be downloaded from our facebook page or website for your convenience.

Any current registered Cranebrook LAC athlete (triallists excluded) may nominate to attempt a record however we ask that only those that can show they have a realistic and reasonable chance of breaking a record do so. Athletes cannot nominate the same event again until after they have completed current record attempt. Due to time constraints and limited officials repeated record attempts will only be allowed at committee discretion. Cranebrook LAC committee reserve the right to postpone record attempts if necessary e.g. insufficient number of officials, inadequate light, inclement weather etc.

Athletes who beat a centre record but have failed to nominate the event will unfortunately not have their result validated as an official centre record. Should the event be washed out or cancelled on nominated night the attempt will carry over to the competition night for that event. The record attempt can only take place on the corresponding night it is scheduled for in age group ie. If discus is scheduled for week A you cannot attempt to break this record on week B.

This process is put in place due to the logistics involved in ensuring qualified officials/committee members are present at the event. New records must be signed off by 2 officials/committee members to ensure integrity of our club records.

Current centre records can be found on our club website: www.cranebrooklac.org.au Please allow up to 2 weeks for new centre records to appear on website.

Our recording officer will regularly place on our notice board near canteen a list of athletes who based on previous results should consider nominating a record attempt. This will not be a definitive list and other athletes may nominate considering their ability
